Can Kenny Rogers save Christmas?



For immediate release - November 14, 2003 – Chicago, IL – n.u.f.a.n. ensemble presents its annual Christmas performance of "It's a Very Kenny Christmas".



Things aren't going too well for Wanda down at Wanda's World of Western Wear. The strip malls are making it tougher for a girl to make a living these days. The news that Kenny Rogers is coming to town offers some hope to a seemingly hopeless situation. Could Kenny Rogers be her knight in shining armor?



Written and directed by Paul Barile, n.u.f.a.n.'s second annual production of "It's a Very Kenny Christmas" features Michael Kristula, Sam Craig, Bries Vannon, Alonzo Russell, Jennifer Mickelson, Kat O'Connor, Karin Carr, Ellen Domonkos.



Also on the bill is "Have a Kung Fu Christmas" written by Barile.

Directed by Dan Scurek and featuring James Turano.



"It's a Very Kenny Christmas" opens at 8 p.m., Friday, December 2 and runs through Saturday December 12 at the Portage Park Center for the Arts, 5801 W. Dakin St., Chicago.



There is a 7 p.m. performance Thursday, December 8 followed by a question and answer session with the cast. High school students will pay $5.00 for tickets. Thursday is also industry night. Tickets are $5.00 with headshot and/or résumé.

Barile “is a playwright with deep understanding of human nature and his writing has an up front inherent honesty that gives it profoundness. Barile is an efficient storyteller who develops interestingly real characters,” says Chicago critic Tom Williams of ChicagoCritic.com. Barile was named “discovery of the year” by ChicagoCritic.com for the world premiere of his “The Bound Trilogy” in December of 2002.
